United Space Alliance Recognizes Goodrich's Contribution to the Space Shuttle Program

The United Space Alliance (USA) has recognized Goodrich Corporation’s contribution to NASA’s Space Shuttle program.

Goodrich’s Engineered Polymer Products team, based in Jacksonville, Florida, produces rubber-coated strut covers for Engravers Metal Fabricators, Inc. (EMF) of Merritt Island, Florida. The strut covers surround and protect the wiring between the external tank which contains pressurized liquid hydrogen and oxygen fuel, and the Solid Rocket Boosters (SRBs) during the shuttle launch.  During a recent joint USA and EMF management visit, USA presented Goodrich with an award of appreciation for its contribution to the shuttle program.

“We worked collaboratively with EMF to ensure that the final strut covers conformed to specifications and were delivered on time and on target,” stated Jim Pollock, Vice President, Goodrich Engineered Polymer Products.

“We take great pride in recognizing our suppliers’ contributions to the aerospace industry,” stated Gary Henderson, United Space Alliance, Supplier Relations. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with Goodrich and its team of dedicated employees who help make this program a success,” he continued.

Goodrich has been part of the shuttle program since its inception. The company’s technology on board ranges from landing gear to wheels and carbon brakes, various fluid gauging and sensor systems as well as rubber-coated strut covers.
