Green Success Story: Goodrich Safety Univ. – an invaluable educational opportunity

Goodrich Corporation’s Administrative Services team is responsible for providing essential managerial and administrative processes required to maintain and operate the company’s global headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team also provides organizational support services and oversight for the safety program, as well as training for various EHS related programs (i.e. CPR/AED, first aid, infection control and ergonomics).

As manager of this team, Leslie Adams-Fulton had the opportunity to attend Goodrich Safety University (GSU) in Foley, Alabama recently. To Leslie, the most beneficial take-away from the safety training for was incident response, investigation and root cause analysis. GSU helped her understand all the elements of an effective safety program, particularly training, awareness and communication applicable to an office environment. As the coordinator for the Pandemic Flu Planning Business Contingency Team for Goodrich’s Charlotte office, she was able to incorporate learned concepts (educate first responders and employees, investigate potential safety issues and risk prevention/avoidance) in the planning process.

Overall, she found the experience in attending GSU to be invaluable as it broadened her knowledge and helped her understand safety as it relates to plant operations as well as other work settings. GSU has been instrumental to providing a safe work environment for employees at the company’s headquarters in Charlotte.
