Goodrich’s Chelmsford, Massachusetts site, part of its ISR Systems team, recently implemented a project to retro-commission its building energy management and rooftop heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This project was a partnership between National Grid (local electric utility) and Goodrich. National Grid worked with a local consulting engineer to produce a report which detailed recommended improvements and the likely benefits from this work. Under the arrangements of the project, Goodrich engaged a mechanical contractor and the scope of the work involved the installation of new sensors, data point contacts, cabling and an extensive software upgrade to the existing energy management systems computer.

As a result, Goodrich can now operate the equipment in a more efficient manner and provide a better environment for its employees. Furthermore, it is expecting to see annual savings of $100,000 or more. This was clearly a successful green project for Goodrich.
