U.S. Army Awards Goodrich Contract for Laser Warning Systems

Goodrich Corporation has been awarded a five-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Army with an initial order and a separate contract for an anticipated combined value of $187 million for the procurement of up to 855 AN/AVR-2B(V) Laser Warning Systems. Goodrich has supplied production threat detection and laser warning systems for use on aviation, naval and ground platforms for over 20 years. The AN/AVR-2B(V) detects rangefinders, target designators and beamrider laser-aided systems.

Goodrich’s ISR Systems team in Danbury, Conn. will supply the systems. According to Jerry Witowski, Segment President, Electronic Systems, “We're pleased to continue our relationship with the U.S. Army and provide our service men and women with this vital protection system. This contract allows for the continuing development of this critical technology base for future operational requirements."

The AN/AVR-2B(V) is the latest generation of Goodrich aviation laser warning systems to be used by the U.S. armed forces. The system is smaller and lighter than the previous version, uses less power, and demonstrates enhanced performance, reliability, and maintainability.  It detects rangefinders, target designators, and beam rider laser-aided weapon systems, and is capable of multiple aircraft signal interfaces. In addition, the system can interface with the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System, Air-to-Ground Engagement System II (MILES-AGES II) training system to provide  pilots with combat tactical training that closely simulates weapon engagements.

To date, Goodrich has delivered over 8,500 aviation and ground laser warning systems to the U.S. and other armed forces around the world.
