During a recent EHS compliance audit, a Goodrich auditor remarked to Carl Maddux Director, Operations at Goodrich’s Aerostructures site in Chula Vista, California, “You all talk the same language.”  Carl took the comment as a compliment. The fact that the auditors found that everyone at Chula Vista spoke the same language when it comes to EHS issues is indicative of the facility’s ability to work as a team in ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.

The audit team noted the high degree of team engagement at the Chula Vista site. They observed the team’s emphasis on EHS being the responsibility of every employee. After all, without that engagement, EHS team members are just policemen driving mere compliance versus improved EHS performance.

Chula Vista’s successful audit was in keeping with Goodrich’s philosophy that a safe workplace is a competitive advantage.
