Carbon Heat Sink Material
Over decades, our carbon brake technology has incorporated features required by aircraft manufacturers worldwide. Goodrich aircraft brakes feature lightweight carbon friction material, providing our customers significant weight and cost savings. Our carbon brakes offer longer brake life and durability resulting in low life cycle costs. Goodrich carbon brakes offer longer range business jets and commercial airlines efficiency by optimizing fuel and payload.
Since the 1970s, Goodrich has been a leader in the development of carbon-carbon composites for aircraft braking systems. In 1988, our SUPER-CARB® carbon heat sink delivered a high performance carbon technology creating a sound foundation and a springboard for new technology such as DURACARB™ carbon friction material. Goodrich continues to be on the leading edge of the aerospace industry with innovative breakthroughs such as the DURACARB™ carbon material and our patented EDL® extended life heat sink configurations.
DURACARB™ carbon friction material provides low operating costs through low wear rates, while with EDL® customers receive significant savings by replacing only half of the disks in the carbon heat sink at the time of overhaul while still achieving the same brake life.
Steel Heat Sink Material
Due to a long, reliable service history, market leaders in the business jet market consistently look to Goodrich to formulate steel brake designs. Our steel brakes offer lower product and operating cost with durable, sustainable life. Goodrich’s steel brakes are precision engineered to allow adequate disk mass stability without excess weight, while still suitable to meet the operating environment of high cycle operators.
Our research engineers continually work on highly innovative braking technology to support the rapidly growing business jet market well into the future. The Cessna Citation Mustang is an example of a breakthrough combination of Goodrich’s Brake Control System in conjunction with our steel brakes.
