Rohr Inc.
Frederick Hilmer Rohr, who created the fuel tanks for Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, founded Rohr Aircraft Corporation on August 6, 1940. The company would incorporate as Rohr Corporation in 1969 and change its name to Rohr Industries, Inc. in 1971.

Aerospace Production Takes Off at Lucas
A new aerospace department was formed at King Street in Birmingham, where Lucas produced 100 Spitfire wing sub-assemblies a week, each comprising of over 500 engineered components. By the end of the war it had produced 12,500 wing assemblies. This was the first example of modern press shop techniques being used in aircraft manufacture.
