Goodrich has supplied the state-of-the-art airborne sensors for the U.S. Air Force U-2 for decades. The current system, SYERS-2, is the U.S. Air Force’s most advanced airborne ISR sensor, combining the longest electro-optical and infared focal lengths available from an airborne platform for unequalled day and night capability.
A unique feature of the SYERS-2 system is its use of seven wavelength bands which can be collected simultaneously, transmitted to a ground exploitation system and viewed in real-time. Imagery analysts combine the separate spectral bands in different combinations in order to highlight the characteristics of different objects. This spectral collection capability enables a variety of enhanced imagery information outputs including:
- False color composites
- Optical moving target indication
- Optical measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT)
- Extremely high-resolution day and night imagery
- Operation in adverse weather conditions of haze and light fog
SYERS-2 imagery is unrivalled for its reach, the distance the area of interest is imaged from the aircraft, in all spectral modes.
SYERS-2 is a unique ISR asset delivering unparalleled imagery products to warfighters, planners and intelligence analysts.
