Goodrich, UK MOD Sign Long Term Support Agreement for Helicopter Engine Accessories

Contract covers equipment on Sea King helicopter Gnome engines

Goodrich Corporation has signed a five-year support agreement with the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) to cover accessories for Rolls-Royce Gnome turboshaft engines. The Gnome powers the Sea King helicopters in service with the Royal Air Force and Navy.

The innovative service contract covers engine fuel accessories, actuators and starter motors, as well as technical support for these products. Under the agreement, the MOD sends its equipment to any of three Goodrich facilities in the UK and pays a monthly service fee for guaranteed return of serviceable units back into the fleet. Benefits to the MOD include an improved robust supply chain for long term support, better budgetary control and planning, lower administration costs and improved delivery times. The agreement was custom-tailored in partnership with the MOD to support the wide range of roles that the Sea King performs in operations both in the UK and on overseas deployments.

Mark Hawkins, Helicopter Engines Team Leader for UK MOD, said, “We are delighted to reaffirm our existing partnering arrangements with Goodrich by the award of this five year contract. It is a tangible demonstration of the faith we have in the good service that Goodrich continues to provide in supporting Sea King operations.”
